This issue has a different centre of gravity than the last one. Issue 2 was written as the shock landed. Issue 3 was written after it settled into a condition. The war that reset the region’s calendar in February is still unresolved, and WTTC still projects a 14.5% contraction for the Middle East this year - the only region on earth moving backward. We do not argue with that number.

We simply noticed what kept moving.

A conference is postponed when an airline suspends a route. A wedding is not. The guest list lives within a two-hour drive, the date follows the family calendar, and a postponed wedding carries a social cost that a postponed holiday never does. While the conference calendar absorbed the shock, private celebrations were resized, rescheduled and rebooked – not abandoned. That is why this issue has a wedding on its cover.

Inside, weddings are treated as what they are: a production industry. Who actually holds authority at a $500K wedding when something goes off-script. How the UAE chooses a venue – as a decision about which risk you are willing to carry, not a ranking. What a staged wedding is really for, when it is built as a sales instrument rather than a portfolio shoot. Rajesh Pereira on the technical production behind the bride’s entrance. Rhiannon Downie-Hurst on couples who now find their suppliers through AI. Denis Panchenko on where event trends are born. Anup Mohan on how a wedding-photo product grew into a full-cycle event platform.

The rest of the issue holds the same line. Alina Shlyakhtova on Saudi Arabia’s new market. Mudi Devendra on running a local DMC in the AI era. Dr James Morgan on engagement technology. Walter Muñoz on the long road from circus act to experience.

One disclosure. This issue reviews EventMania 2026, including Wedding Mania, the Dubai wedding hall I produce. The review says so in its own text. Read it with that in mind.

The market did not break. In weddings, it never paused.
This issue is for the people who build it.
